Victorian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will make his Test debut as Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon were axed for the second Test against India in Hyderabad.
Australian captain Michael Clarke left it until the last minute to decide his team after Australia's eight-wicket loss in Chennai, and opted to hand Maxwell his baggy green as well as grant a Test return for Xavier Doherty.
Maxwell and Doherty's chance to shine may have to wait a bit as Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in Hyderabad.
Doherty's return comes at the expense of Lyon, who was hammered by the Indian line-up in the first Test, taking expensive match figures of 3 for 215 and 1 for 29.
But Doherty will still be under pressure to improve his ordinary Test record so far, having taken three wickets in two Tests at an average of 102.
Starc's wicketless match also cost him a place in the side, allowing for spinning all-rounder Maxwell to make his debut after receiving his Baggy Green from former Test opener Matthew Hayden.

An injury cloud was also hanging over wicket-keeper Matthew Wade who fractured a cheekbone during throwdowns in the nets yesterday.
Team doctor Peter Brukner says Wade has been cleared to play, so long as his condition does not worsen overnight.
"We sent him off for a precautionary scan after the session and he has a minor fracture but has subsequently been cleared to play provided there is no excessive bruising and swelling overnight," Brukner said.
Aside from the team's spinning headache, Clarke last night said he wanted his side to work on staying patient against India.
"To make runs, you've got to be able to bat for long periods of time," Clarke said.
"Bowling wise it's going to hours, sessions, days, to get Indian batsman out."
India named an unchanged line-up after its slow-bowling attack captured all 20 of the Australian scalps in the first Test.
