Dissappointed ? Yes!
Not because of Look's story. More to do with the way it was sold down today. Anyway thats another story.
Looksmart has faced incredible odds to prove that it is a very profitable business. Even the risk of introducing the PPC Model last year, many of us knew the potential of revenues that could be generated over time. The big question was could Looksmart perform a balancing act through the introduction of the PPC.
Most other Portals just watched with awe. Why you may say? Looksmart were the first to take that step apart from the Auction model by Over. It involved a shifting of customers sentiment from a one of payment to now pay as you go, or Pay As You Click. The exciting thing that has really been entrenched is the amount of big businesses taking up the model. They are realising they can get more ROI for marketing and advertising on the internet than the way of more traditional methods within the media.
Wait till the PPC takes hold in Japan and the UK.
Expecting Big things, not even including further distribution deals.
