    Hi All,

Instead of grumbling why the reserves for Suprise are not out, how about we use some energy to determine a guesstimate for the reserves on Suprise.

A friend sent me his guestimate, no one related to the company so no conspiracy theories please, and I thought with his permission I would give you his thoughts and may be some experts might like to have a go or point out the errors in his calculations.

At worst it will help pass the time until the reserves figures are actually released by the company.

We should work off the notion that a well will drain a radius of 100 metres. Why? JPR once stated that they work off 80m. Make it a 100 to be conservative.

    Area of 100m circle = 2(22/7) x r x r

    = 2(100 x100) x 22/7

    = (2 x 10000) x 22/7

    = 20000 x 22/7

    = 62,857 square m to drain 1 wells

    Surprise West = 2km x 2km

    Therefore Area of Surprise West = 2,000 x 2,000 = 4,000,000 m2

Therefor potential number of wells = 4,000,000/62857 = 63 wells potential

Capacity each well - Assume oil column of net 10m

    Cubic capacity of 1 well/reservoir = 628,570 m3

At porosity of 2% the reservoir of 1 well will hold 12,571 m3

At 6 bbl per m3, reservoir of 1 well will hold 75,500 bbl

At 63 potential wells, reservoir of all wells will hold 4.75 mmbbo (Surprise West only).

Well, what do you all think?

    Stoops
