Stocko, I don't know where you get your figures from, however fruit and vegtable growers and dairy farmers in my region (Goulburn Valley in Victoria) are being forced to pay up to $500 per megalitre on the open market for water.

We have spent +$80K on water this year and some of the larger fruit growing operations have spent up to $500K.

We only have a 53% water right allocation as our main storage (Lake Eildon capacity 3,390,000 ML) is down to a level of 15%.

Unless we have reasonable rainfall over the next 6-9 months there will an economic disaster in this region.
