We just spent 550m on the 59 abrams tank project to be used in the NT where their engines are very prone to sand damage.
Surely to supply the army with apache helicopters would have been more suitable/flexible for the NT and any regional operations.cost 18m ea.
ps the US now has a base in the north,if they don't trust us with the security for the f22,why not base the f22 on their base flown by australian pilots with US security passes but maintained by US maintenance.
For me the obvious question is they don't trust us with security of their f22,but quite happy to have every man and his dog work on the jsf project.
