He does say I didn't join the army to rebuild Iraq. Who paid for it is another issue. He's absolutely fine if he just went to Afganistan
The only reason you focus on these Iraq issues is because it was a war fought in the media.
Vietnam was much more senseless and for more paranoid reasons than Iraq. Draftees had no choice but to fight for something no-one believed in. The armed forces personnel in particular believed in Iraq when it started, only in hindsight do they reflect.
War is hell, companies make money off the back of it. Things are easily forgotten.
