ultimately e-commerce will be the great leveller in commercial rent. it would be prudent for the government to introduce an e-commerce tax to stem the flow of Australian dollars to landlords overseas and direct that money to our landlords, its only fair really
I think it should also be a requirement for retailors to show their tax returns to landlords to ensure retailors are working for salaries only and that commercial rent should be linked to reatil profit by law
of course this peg to profit is a one way adjustment, in times when reatil profits are falling the peg should remain at the same level and the shortfall made up by a tax on the population
