This is Rio tinto's statement, and they have laid out a strategy for their own emissions. Changes that Im sure they wouldnt be planning if they at all thought it wasnt in the best interests of shreholders. Rio is smarter than you or I, and Im sure they have a reasonanble understanding of the effects their business has, as much as can be expected. If the opportunity for research to suggest otherwise existed, it would be in their best interest to do so.

A question may be seen as loaded if the answer is not to the answerers liking. You may answer if you like, I wasnt just asking yourself. They are basic questions for the benefit of the forum.

My opinion I had already stated in a previous post:

'Whether its global warming, desertification or whatever, if one agrees that man can affect onto the climate(in some way, which of course we can as modifiers of our environment) then surely until it is better understood that affect should be minimised.'

How much change is to be expected. I dont know, neither do you, neither does Rio, but they at least have sought to protect their business(and perhaps the world around them ) by accepting current science and planning on the back of this.
