A classic example of bad morals crowding out good morals. Also a fine example of psychology, and intuitively, one can understand from such sentiments why crowds behave irrationaly even though each individual will be behaving rationally, and hence also why trends occur in the markets, and why panics and manias will be with us forever and ever.
Sentiments such as this is why value investing will always be profitable, humans being what they are.
