Even if that's the accurate [which it is not]; so what?

Tony Abbott has been Opposition Leader for almost 4 years and is odds on to become PM in September. He must cast off his past mistakes and morph from a reviled Opposition Leader into a PM people can trust and respect.

We have watched Julia Gillard being torn to pieces and ridiculed as PM for every aspect of her past and present - based on her gender, previous relationships, employment, the death of her father, personal wardrobe and even her partner.

Abbott already has more material out there for the knockers to play with than Gillard did at the same time. Unless he can rise above his past it will come back to define his Prime Ministership; assuming the Coalition wins in September and then appoints him PM.
