The federal government realises that it would be hypocritical to bang on about the ‘fabulously wealthy’ (and if you have wealth, then you probably cheated to get that wealth, according to Treasurer Swan), when the politicians are probably the perfect example of who they seem to be constantly criticising. In a newly found spirit of trying to be consistent and fair, the government have decided that the new pensions tax should also apply to fund members of defined benefit funds, including federal MPs.
