Yes, they could use the same UDW rig in both SC's, but which rig is dependent on the WD at the selected drill locations...WD in SC59 goes down to 3,000m (9,843ft...but probably off target).
Hawkeye WD = 5,545ft, Cinco WD = 4,692ft. Currently these are the two deepest drilling candidates in SC55, but there is no info available on any prospects/targets in SC59 which specify a WD.
Why I mention that is, it was always my expectation that BHPP would contract a rig that would allow them to complete their deepwater drilling programme off Malaysia (with JVP Petronas - 2 wells done , 2 to go), and they could use the same rig for their commitments in the Pines (which is what they were intending with the Deepwater Expedition, before they sacked her from their Malaysia campaign). Blocks N and Q off Malaysia have similar water depths to SC's 59 and 55.
Deepwater Expedition WD rating 8,500ft, GSF Explorer 7,800ft.
Not a lot of difference, so I really suspect that BHPP have put everything on hold and are worming their way out of commitments, at least for the foreseeable future.
