I think some people find it hard to understand how one can sell a stock, yet still be very supportive of it?

I see NDO as one of the stand-outs on the boards and still hold many shares...but that doesn't mean one should not continue to look for other opportunities...nor does it prevent one from trading in and out of the more obvious technical moves.

The simple fact is that if well executed, successful trading of a rising stock will increase ones gains...of course, only if this is you sort of thing.

My ultimate goal is to accumulate as many shares in NDO as I can, without the need for additional funds...the only way to do this is to trade the daily/weekly swings.

One needs to be careful however not to over do it...timing and frequency is everything!

Anyway, as for your tax versus CGT versus not touching it at all scenario?...I guess it all comes down to your particular situation.

I have a combination of long-term, mid-term and short-term accounts.

I place tax effective stocks into my long-term account...as such, CGT is all I pay. I have not sold any of these.

The rest are in the other 2 accounts.

Due to the number of trades per year, (over 5,000) I am treated as a professional "trader" and not an "investor"...as such, I have an arrangement with the tax office.

All I need to do is look at how much goes in, how much comes out and the final balance of my accounts at the end of each year.

The benefit here is that I can take advantage of short-term moves without any concerns about CGT or other tax implications.
