You are absolutely correct Yak, wht waste R@D funding on smart bombs when you could just carpet bomb the joint block by block.
At least the smart bomb tech is designed for surgical strikes, the only reason being to avoid collateral damage, IE: civilians and property.
Al Qaeda and dirty bombs , whilst not large, are designed to kill civilians , in as small an area as possible, with maximum casualties, men women or kids.
They are pure filth , and their actions indefensible.
