With the CSG that would generate they would be able to explore the shale without a J.V. or with a much better J.V.

Oil Basins have proved that they can drill holes very economically with a small mobile drill unit . Don't know whether such a unit would handle the depths the shale is at but shale exploration is beyond their pocket at the moment .

Their postcode is less remote than some .

If they get NT on Derby they might even sell one of the other projects to fund it .

They've seen how NSE J.V. has been too one sided so surely would not make the same mistake .

If the CSG is good quality or Backreef oil comes off there will be no stopping this thing .
