To conquest customers can be complicated because:
(a) contracts with current custoners have to run out or be breached
(b) the new suppliers product quality, quantity, ability to deliver on time
currency hedging etc.
(c) New relationships have to be developed
(d) Price
If there is an appreciable change in product, even for the better, customer
plant and processes may have to be adjusted which takes time and money.
There was some reference made to this in Q&A.
Given LYC's long gestation period and given the recent Chinese trade shenanigans, supply contracts to big endusers are likely to be more complicated than normal.
Given the trade backlash against Japanese cars in China, Japanese car manufacturers are likely to lead the switch to LYC. Perhaps this is what
Eric was telling us in general terms when he spoke favourably of his recent Japanese visit.
