    Very interesting.

Talk about a sweet back up plan. The ability to print money, that just so happens to be the reserve currency, with the view that when it goes up in flames, well we are sitting on some sweet reserves of gold anyway.

If I had enough power and had a massive population of people behind me I would either -

    A) stand up to the US - make a massive deal of it and freak out the world economy some more
    B) Acquire my own reserves of gold (hello China, hello Russia) and then when that moment eventually comes, and the reserve currency changes, we are well placed to deal with it.
    C) Be North Korea who has absolutely no idea what they are doing in general terms and just pop up in the media every now and then cause we arnt getting enough attention.

As long as we invest our selves in quality (BDR) long term we will be fine. Give I am Long, I will keep topping up when ever I have some spare dollars. Jez, I was prepared to top up in the 90's. Even if I had, long term I see BDR being a major player, so it wouldn't have been the worst deal, although with prices like these, one could forgive me for drooling.
