the balfour declaration (which was later confirmed at the san remo conference) was a document that outlined quite clearly where and what was to be given to the jews for their homeland. it was the british who later went on and renegged on the promise.

at that time the arabs were also confided and hussein totally agreed with the divying up of the land that the ottomans lost and this included syria, lebanon and mesopotamia. the sherif never asserted that palestine was arab territory

the arabs agreed to everything proposed - so to turn around now and say that the jews stole their land is dishonest especially after they agreed to it in the first place

legal title under international law was granted in 1920 when the supreme council (gb, france, italy and japan) approved the balfour declaration at the san remo conference. this decision converted the declaration into a binding legal document. britain was then committed to reconstitute a national jewish home

the partition of palestine into an arab and jewsih state was never contemplated

sovereignty was thus exclusively vested in jewish interests.

this was determined at the conference of san remo, inserted in the treaty of serves then in the preamble of the mandate charter which subsequently was approved by 52 nations in 1922 and then others in the league of nations
