I hope this is a joke. The perception of conflict of interest if not the reality of it would be overwhelming. This appointment would be tainted in many people's eyes.
If this judge had the responsibility for court papers involving Ms Gillard, they go missing without explanation, he gets appointed as a HC judge by Ms Gillard.
Come on, it can't be. This is Australia not Romania.
There is a well known saying about suspicious appointments in Australia, photography and goats. But I thought the High Court was above that.
