It's good oilfield practice to choke back wells and produce at the lowest commercial rate. The faster you produce a well, the more the water level 'cones' and eventually waters out the well. Basically, the harder you suck, the less *total* oil you get out of the ground over the life of the well.

So no, don't expect a 'massive increase in production' by this means; that would just be terrible oilfield practice.
