I would have thought that the de-watering would not have an impact due to the massive difference in levels. The dewatering was much lower down plus not in proximity. The tailings put that is close to dam is currently being decommissioned and filled in for use as ROM pad extensions.

As for environmental groups, this is nothing new over there. Exactly how much influence they have is an unknown. But the only guide I have is that the 'say no to mining in Philippines' Facebook page, which is a lot more focused on coal mining only has 66k likes.

But this said, I've already told the Missus that I've mist likely lost all our savings, I'm already in the dog house, so have already begun the preparation for the worst case scenario!!
