"if I buy at 48C and it goes to 47.5, do I get out and cut my losses"
YES you sell but this is not part of the Straddle Sell, because the reason you Buy is because you thought the trend was UP, if it does not move up, you cut your losses and as quickly as possible (eyes on screen).
Only after a decent upward movement your set your STOP. It can be tighter at purchase price but I like making profit and even if it's just a bit, it all adds up.
Many trades & small profits (depending on your preference: ST, LT or Intra-day), some trade failures but mostly wins, so overall UP :)
When to buy is the key and that needs good TA for this type of entry. You also need to look at the opening price outlook and early trades to determine momentum.
Each to their own strategy :)
