What I meant by that, is the many billions of dollars of tax that is not paid as a result of negative gearing, means we all have to pay more income tax , more levies, more duties and more company tax to try and make up for it.
If the government just left the market alone, like most of the rest of the world, then we may actually have property investors investing with the view of turning a profit each year with a respectable yield. Which would a
lso mean that properties would be much more affordable for everyone. This should include equity investments as well. All these stupid policies encourage is risky speculation. In the case of houses, even worse as now, many citizens of this country cannot afford to buy a home in their country of origin any longer.
