Back at the desk and thinking about Budget winners and losers. A few random thoughts here, but I'm sure others are better placed to judge their impact:
Miners: negative impact on explorers. Tighter tax deduction rules make explorers less attractive take-over targets. Read more here.
Health care: some winners. New money for cancer research and disability scheme. Not sure how much of this is "news", so may be already factored in to share prices.
Retailers: negative impact from downgrade of baby bonus (aka the flat-screen TV bonus), cuts to family tax and carbon tax cut deferment.
Builders/engineers: possible winners. $24 billion to be spent on infrastructure over five years. Unclear how much of this is "new money". Likely mostly recycled.
Bound to be others. Thoughts?
