As a kid our back yard in the suburbs was like a little farm, we grew spuds, beans, pumpkins, corn, onions and garlic to name some.
We had a couple of orange and mandarin trees, grape vines, passion fruit and a strawberry patch.
We also had ducks, rabbits and chickens which would eat foliage from the garden and they where destiny for the kitchen
I also had some pigeons as pets that were given to be by the school where I was head boy for this pigeon poultry nursery we had.
Unfortunately I can home one day to find 2 pigeons missing, my mum told me they flew away but I didn't belive her, those pigeons always returned. Anyway that evening dinner on the table was what I was told two small chickens. Was not a happy chappie
