ahjay I'll break it up for you.....

"unexpected shortfall".... they were expecting full take, hence improving the odds by offering a SPP for $15M, nothing like the previous $40M.

"squabbling over who takes what" ......they put it out there they were willing to take up to $2M of stock, they weren't expecting the shortfall, that's why they only took up 50%, they got caught out, it would not have looked good if they took less than 50% or reneged. Looks like it may have been Lucy's idea going by the remaining Directors take up.Get the picture.
