You have summed it up nicely. Flow of funds appears as follows:
Revenues/placemets/borrowings come in....
(1) pays for business costs....
(2) pays for director fees...
left with zippo for shareholders! If the company is short on (1) and (2), then hey presto lets place somemore funds and create some new shareholders who will have buckleys of seeing a dividend.
