FORMER Queensland Premier Anna Bligh is due to front an inquiry into the $1.2 billion Queensland Health payroll bungle. A spokeswoman for the inquiry told AAP Ms Bligh had been summoned by the Brisbane-based inquiry. Former health minister Paul Lucas and former public works minister Robert Schwarten could also be called, however the inquiry has not yet named them. Ms Bligh is expected to be cross-examined about the state's dealing with IT contractor IBM. The doomed payroll system was introduced in March 2010, and resulted in thousands of staff being overpaid, underpaid or not paid at all. The government has estimated the debacle will cost taxpayers $1.2 billion. The inquiry is due to finish at the end of next week but could be extended if needed. Health Minister Lawrence Springborg announced on Wednesday the Queensland government is about to start automatically docking health workers' pays to recoup overpayments.
