We should detach with love from America and focus on defending Australia from real (not fanciful) security threats.
The last time Australia had a real threat was when the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy were heading our way with conquest in mind. All other threats were in our minds and we lost them because the locals were fighting to save their Motherland and our troops were fighting for America and not to save Australia. Hence they returned and were messed up in the head from ambiguity and took to drink and other escapes:
