In its prime (1960's & 1970's) FORD was manufacturing and selling about 100,000 Falcons a year. In 2012 it sold just 14,036 (down from 18,741 in 2011). It simply is not viable to build so few cars.
Nevertheless its a sad day for manufacturing in Australia.
