Well I guess I have only ever used stop loss once in any big way and not in the way it was intended!. Was mid to late March 2009, I recall the day well because some heavy stop losses were hit that day. I picked up a third of my entire holdings in LYC that day, anyone who recalls it will know it was mid teens. Some gain rules I have shed these well north of $2, but still with a healthy core. Not sure this is too relevant to how to manage a stop loss, but its related yes.
