Its not so much about that they want to keep things quiet, its more about... even if they are finding hydrocarbons whilst drilling, they will have no way to judge the flow rates, and therefore can't know if there will be a commercial outcome. They were IMO very honest about wanting to, or more so being required to update the market as soon as anything substantial comes to hand. But they were also very clear (particularly Alan) that they didn't want to put out announcements without substance in them. Yes I can see the negative side of that, but also believe their methodology has some great merit.
