The more I look the more of a conundrum the pricing fo REEs are.
Below in the Your Price column I have inserted the 'in China' price as per latest updates today on Metal Pages.
Have no insight as to which REEs are being smuggled, some may be harder than others to get across international boarders.
However, even if one adds the 15% tax (previously I estimated 25%, but another poster said it may be 15% for LREEs), then why would any large buyer pay the FOB prices.
The in China basket price is under $18 kg, and allowing for tax and transport, must still be under $22/23 kg.
Am I missing something with the way REEs are priced?
The only thing I can think of is the newly introduced VAT, but have seen no hard numbers, and not sure if this is on to top the existing tax or a replacement to it?
example: Dysprosium, FOB = $490 KG, in China = $196 KG, Surely I can transport to docks and have to loaded for less than $300 KG?
