there is a separation between the disciples being taught and the masses who are those that will by and large reject his message.
The hidden component isnt actually hidden for us, it is the death on the cross that needs to be completed. That was slowly being revealed to the disciples remember the Jews where after a political/military messiah to rid itself of Roman occupation. Their expectations of salvation at the time was vastly different to the ministry and message of Christ.
Anyway at that point in time Jesus had not achieved this victory so what was yet to come was the mystery to be revealed to the people.
No cross no death no resurrection no kingdom. Sloppy english but I hope you understand the jist of it.
