What the big players and even some companies are probably doing is trying to hold the stocks down and keep the prices at certain prices. What is required is for someone big to come in and add 10 - 15c to every gold stock and buy everything that comes to them. This will force them to buy the stock because there holding will have decreased and they weighting in the stock would be lower than they have wanted.
