lost lust

BodyShaper is a product that appears to be still struggling to find its market. The MamaMia “Opiniators” trial early last year was not only unsuccessful, it was damaging (imo). The majority of reviewers complained about texture, smell and price. Few thought that the product worked for them. A couple of reviews were quite nasty.

This year BioElixia tried again. This time it was with the reformulated BodyShaper priced at $59 instead of $99. The product was included as part of the Lust Have It March beauty box. (Lust Have It is an Australian beauty subscription service. For $19.95 each month, subscribers receive a box of up to 6 products, worth a minimum of $60.) Subscribers then review the beauty box products on their blogs.

I seriously doubted that this promotional strategy would be successful, feeling that, once more, this was pitching BodyShaper at the wrong market. When it was launched, Elixia was said to be targeting the Gen X and Baby Boomer market.I think these groups rarely read nor are represented by beauty blogs. But I held judgement and waited for a reasonable number of reviews. Unfortunately, the blogged feedback seems to confirm that the lust was indeed lost on these bloggers.

    Responses were as follows:

    • A couple of bloggers were so impressed by the product that they made no comment on it.

    • A couple simply said that they’d give the product a go.

    • A couple admitted they weren’t even interested in trying it.

    • One just sounded depressed, saying she wasn’t sure that she’d subscribe any more.

    • There were the usual skeptics.

Never heard of this before, can't say I am excited about it because majority of these type of things are the biggest load of poo. They never work, so I'm skeptical.

I'm always a bit dubious about these kinds of products, so at the very least, I have a really nice, high end body moisturiser that smells great and just might help out with my bumpy thighs and tummy.

This is a big statement to make that one cream can reduce cellulite by 40%, this will be interesting to see if this works.

This product certainly isn't shy about the big promises, it claims to be able to reduce cellulite by 40% over six weeks. (How on earth does one measure that sort of thing!?!?) It proudly claims to be "Scientifically Proven" but doesn't say for what, exactly - if hyperbole is a sign of efficaciousness then this is definitely a winner!

    • A couple tried to sound positive

I don't think I have cellulite at the moment, but my best friend is food.. so I can't see why I can't grow some.

...so far I've not been able to find any products I have found to make a huge difference. Some seem to make my skin a little more smooth and maybe slightly firmer but fingers crossed this is my magic find!

...reduces cellulite by 38% so like that’s an alright percentage...that’s around a quarter

I know there will be a bunch of people who are 18 and are saying "I don't have cellulite", but hold on to this bottle, because you will get it in the next few years.

    • One was offended

...SERIOUSLY, LHI? A cellulite cream for a 26 year old?! May I also add that this stinks.

    • One obviously wasn’t into reading the writing on the box.

I'm super excited to lather it all over and watch my cellulite disappear.

    • And the most genuinely enthusiastic response was this

When my mum saw this in my box she was quick to ask for it and I let her have it. She has been using it for a few weeks now, no complaints as yet.

Whatever the way forward may be for BioElixia BodyShaper, I am convinced it doesn’t lie with twentysomething beautybloggers obsessed with selfies and makeup.

However, on what I see as a more positive note, I see that BodyShaper is for sale in the Middle East http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/ and is also continuing to be positively promoted by Shins in Malaysia.
