Singapore-listed Ramba Energy has spudded the Akatara-2 appraisal well on the Lemang Block in South Sumatra, Indonesia.
The well will be drilled to a total depth of 6560 feet and target the Intra Gumai sand formation, Upper Talang Akar formation, Lower Talang Akar formation and the Crystalline basement.
Akatara-2, which spudded late on Tuesday, is expected to take about 26 days to drill, with testing possibly taking place later this year, subject to smaller rig availability.
The Akatara-1 well hit about 83.5 metres of gross hydrocarbon pay earlier this year, with tests producing 11 million cubic feet per day of gas and 380 barrels of condensate per day from the primary reservoir.
Ramba holds a 51% operated interest in the Lemang Block, with Indondesia's PT Sugih Energy holdingthe remaining 49% equity in the block.
