Politicians could have put Australia's capital city in Sunny Queensland
or in the Golden West. But they were sadists, so they sited Canberra
where it would be (Sniffle! Cough! Nose Dribble! Sneeze!) Australia's
coldest city with winter temperatures below Reykjavick's, Iceland's
capital city. On the bright side, it's only 69 cold miserable days
to when Spring begins. And on Saturday nights, I go to a
meeting in hall (with a log fire) that used to be a Wet
Canteen (ie it served beer and food) for workers
who toiled to build Australia's Bleak City:
