MEL 25/06/2013 15:32 GENERAL REL: 1532 HRS Meridian Energy Limited GENERAL: MEL: Meridian appoints new General Manager Retail Meridian Energy today announced Alan McCauley has been appointed as its new General Manager Retail. Alan is currently the General Manager - Customer Management at Australian electricity retailer Red Energy based in Melbourne. Meridian CEO Mark Binns says Alan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the GM Retail role. "Alan was part of the team that planned Red's successful entry into the Australian electricity retail market and has been part of the leadership team since its inception. Red Energy has grown from a start-up company to being an award winning national energy retailer with more than 350,000 customers acquired organically over most states in Australia within a 10 year period, Mr Binns says. "I look forward to having him join Meridian as we continue to grow our Retail business." Prior to his role with Red Energy, Alan worked for Contact Energy and has experience in the New Zealand energy market, including project work for a number of New Zealand electricity retailers and ECNZ. Alan will start his new role on Monday 22 July 2013.
