It really doesn't matter what laws, rules, procedures that are brought in, it is the attitude back in Australia by the noisy minorities, the media and the government that stops any good result from occurring
Bring in this sort of thing and all that would happen is more people in detention with appeals etc and nothing achieved
To keep people in detention for three or more years is not right and should be stopped and the easy way to stop it is to take away all the benefits which are not required to be given by law.
The authorities have admitted that they can only process about 10% of the boat people as they do not have the staff or the facilities, so regardless of what the politicians say they are really not serious about fixing the problem
I'm sorry but any solution has to come back to the politicians taking a stand and telling the noisy minorities to take a running jump
