    I don't know what all the fuss is about. Anyone who sells has the right to, and anyone who short sells just needs to buy back those shares later to realise the outcome of their trade.

    Short sellers are the 3% minority group in CDU. If the stock is good enough the demand will be there from the 97% of longs given the price is supposedly so cheap. It seems CDU is not.

    Short sellers provide liquidity and another form of demand.
    When shorting was banned in 2008, stocks fell even harder as stock demand completely dried up.
    Short sellers can provide an opportunity for a cheaper entry price.

    It's not immoral that they sell something they don't own in their own right given that they ledger the trade by buying the stock back later. Besides, investors/traders go on margin and buy stock with money that isn't there's and people don't have a problem with it!

    There's plenty of other ways to invest your money if you can't hack the share market.
