Investoryan you are correct, numbers are certainly down. I was in brisbane store a few weeks back and the same thing is happening there. The management is always saying that there is no money in the top end of town however I point out that right outside their door the Louis Vuitton store is extending into the premises next door and going up another floor. This increases LVs floor space by an estimated 200%. The board of DJs needs to stop and take note of this. LV is not the only company in the luxury sphere expanding. In the meantime DJs is trying to compete with Myers and coming off second best. DJs needs to get a marketing company on board that has a clear perception of the Australian market because clearly LV are doing something right and DJs is doing something wrong.
David Jones needs to appoint floor managers, spend money on training, get rid of the practice of having so many part time (non caring) workers, get some branding happening, build team morale change the management structures of their stores and generally put some pride back into the store.
Shopping is an experience, if I don't want the experience I will shop on line.
