Never ceases to amaze me how easy it is through generalisation of the populace to expect the majority of the over 60's to fit into a neat tidy basket of health and vitality.
I think a more important statistic is how many 70 and older have gone into nursing homes.
Fantastic if an older person is as fit as a Mallee Bull.
However, that is not the norm.
The two assumptions are:
That you will still have Superannuation to retire on. That food will be plentiful and nutritious.
Well I will be very interested to see how the next couple of generations cope after the "babyboomers".
In some circles they call them the "Obese Generation".
Maybe the good news is they won't even need to worry about retirement. They will already be dead from the crap they have gorged on throughout much of their lives.
Point being, this generation maybe living a bit longer, but that does not mean generations to come will have the same luxuries or lifespan.
