Shareholders are much better connected now. There are now opportunities to engage with shareholders like never before that can benefit all parties.
The former MD saw that. Despite it going wrong for him (and in turn shareholders) he appeared to have vision.
I've seen plenty of Chairmans addresses to shareholders following and preceding AGM's and in circumstances that demanded it.
POST GFC a lot of companies didn't drop to 25% of their value but the management at the companies still made an announcement to the market to update or allay the fears of shareholders.
Transparency and leadership are prerequisites for success.
The world is changing - and changing quickly.
The old ways are giving way to the new whether the old establishment like it or not.
