With the exception of people who are struck down with things such as illness or other random circumstances , financial independence is available to pretty much everyone.

OK, raise the retirement age but let's be fair and give us some back pay. You know, that $10 grand FHOG we never got, those thousands of dollars/year child care we never were offered, the baby bonus we never dreamt of. And some interest on top of that please.

We raised our families with no middle class welfare and tradesman's wages that left little "disposable" income. The wives/mothers couldn't work [often by law] and if they did they got 60% of male pay. Fact!

Don't you people ever talk to your grand parents? Time you did, if you know them.

BTW WH&S was unknown and many men were "clapped out" physically by retirement age.
