i agree with a lot of your points. I too have relatives in the Tasmania in the timber industry who have been savaged by the effects of Green policies.
Don't just write the opposition off as a few students from the mainland. There is a lot of money behind these groups. You will be aware of the people who bought the chip mill at Triabunna - only to close it down so that the timber industry would lose and outlet for their product. People who can afford that can give a lot of support to the Greenies.
I have been a holder for nearly 5 years now and have endured (along with a lot of other LTs) a lot of pain and financial loss to this point due largely to off shore political problems. I don't want to see a "home grown" problem that could give heart to SMSL.
If money is the only consideration, build it in WA. The transport costs alone should cover some of the potential gains
