Spain has contracted Saab AB for the lease of a Skeldar V-200 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial system (UAS) for an operational evaluation on board a Spanish Navy Buque de Accion Maritima (BAM) ocean-going patrol vessel.

The Armada Española said on 10 July that it had leased the Skeldar system to enable it to "acquire experience in the operative use of these systems". While acknowledging in a press statement that it had received a contract "to deploy the Skeldar UAS for maritime operations", Saab has not identified its customer.
Skeldar has a 220 kg take-off weight and can carry up to 40 kg in payload.
