    I have no idea if the gold market is being manipulated or not, but I would not be surprised if that turns out to be true. However, judging by what happened to the silver market on Thursday, 27 March 1980 (link bellow) I am more inclined to accept the view being exposed by some that the manipulation occurred while the pog was on its way up rather than during its way down.
