the greens want safer pathways - ie fly them straight in. a lot of people can not afford the $5000, or $10,000 for the short boat ride from indonesia to xmas island - so that is a bit if a barrier.
if people did not have to find $10,000, then one can only imagine how many people would take up the offer of a "safe pathway" - ie flight.
loopy greens - but milne has a point about debating rudd on the environment - after all, he was the one who called global warming the great moral challenge of our time
