I hestitate to post between such erudite posters as corndr and taipannoblehouse.

I certainly agree that for samll caps in a particualr - the market process is stuffed.

In my younger years I fancied a flutter on the pony's but recognising it was all crook my stratgey was to try an pick which horse was fundamentally good but being deliberately held back to get the odds out for "those in the know" to profit on, and only bet when "the gane was on".

With small caps I think its a bit the same, so in addition to finding something that is of value, I dont think I want to "place my bets" until I think I see the "smart money" move in. For me, re NXS, that was seeing ACG's SS notice last month ( but maybe he's just a mug punter like the rest of us ?).

One more thing, abouty a dozen years ago when I was involved with something where there were a whole load of very influential and respected people making a decision on a particular transacation, where the "pillars of society" were also clearly conflicted, I raised this "conflict of interest" issue with my then boss - he shared with me the following very insightful repsonse.

" Conflict of Interest ? ... no conflict , no interest "
